my approach
What therapy with me is like
People come to therapy for many different reasons and with different hopes. You might be navigating overwhelm, disconnection, trauma, or relationship difficulties. You may be wanting to explore questions of identity, life transitions, or experiences that haven’t yet had space to land.
Therapy with me offers an open and supportive space to be witnessed and met as you are. The therapeutic process can support greater self-awareness, a deeper connection to yourself and others, and the development of self-trust and insight.
How we will work together
With care, presence, and attention to your lived experience, we will explore what is going on for you, why you feel the way you do, and how this might be shaped by your history and wider context. We will work at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your needs.
My approach is relational and integrative, meaning our work together is guided by what feels most important for you to explore. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, relational, body psychotherapy, existential, feminist, person-centred, and transpersonal therapies.
I see therapy as a creative and collaborative process, and the relationship between us as an important part of the work. Our therapeutic relationship can offer a space to explore how you experience connection, boundaries, and communication in your wider relationships, and to build confidence in expressing yourself.
At times, words may not feel enough to express what you are experiencing. When it feels appropriate, we may draw on somatic or creative practices to support exploration and understanding.
A wider lens
I recognise that emotional distress does not exist in a vacuum, but within cultural, social, and political structures. My work is informed by a decolonial lens, and I seek to honour intuitive and ancestral forms of knowledge that often sit outside dominant psychological frameworks.
Areas of work
Some people come with a clear sense of what they want to explore; others arrive with a feeling unsure or that something isn’t quite right, even if they don’t yet have words for it. I work with adults around a range of experiences, including (but not limited to):
Abuse
Anxiety and depression
Body image
Chronic illness / health related issues
Early life / childhood trauma
Grief and loss
Identity and belonging
Intergenerational issues
Life transitions
Loneliness and isolation
Neurodivergence
Oppression and marginalisation in any form
Relationships - with self, within families, at work and beyond
Self-esteem issues
Stress, burnout
Trauma
Women’s health issues, including PMDD
Even if your concern isn’t listed here, you are welcome. Therapy is a space to explore whatever is present for you.
